One of the most important questions facing civilization researchers is the process of achieving civilization. Through what mechanism and through what process can the production or reproduction of civilization be achieved, is an issue that has been given somewhat similar answers in different geographical areas. One of these answers is the role of education and upbringing in achieving civilization. In this approach - unlike state-centered approaches - the educated person is at the center and it is through civilized people that a civilized society is built and it is from within a civilized society that a civilized state is born. Sayyid Muhammad Naqib al-Attas is among the thinkers who have tried to examine the role of education and upbringing in civilization processes with all its components and details. In this process, the concept and variable of "etiquette" plays a central role that completes the empty space between religion and science, and the native language (Malay) is its carrier. Naqib al-Attas's civilizational theory revolves around Islamic civilization, is limited to the Malay cultural geography, its tool is the Malay language, its content is Islamic science, and its agent is the "polite" Muslim man who possesses a civilizational identity.
